Scope: server-wide or per division
Without--division (-d), filtering commands work on the server-wide lists and rules, which
needs a superadmin. With --division, they work on that division’s lists and rules. A division’s
filtering applies to clients in its client networks.
Blocklists
Blocklists can be in hosts, AdGuard or domain-list format.Allow and block rules
A block rule covers the name and everything under it; an allow rule means the name is never blocked, even if a list has it.Limiting to clients and a schedule
list add, list limit, rule block, rule allow, rule limit, parental add and safe-search
take the same two flags:
list limit and rule limit change only the flags you give. See
Clients.
Client networks
Client networks decide which division’s filtering a client gets.Client groups
A client group names a set of addresses, so lists and rules can be limited to it by name. Change its addresses later and every list and rule that uses it follows.Schedules
Days and a time range, in the server’s time zone (dnz settings timezone).
--days takes mon, tue,…, a range like mon-fri, weekdays, weekend or daily (the default).
An end before the start runs past midnight, into the next day. A schedule can’t be deleted while a
list or rule still uses it. See Schedules.
Safe search
Without flags,safe-search shows the settings; with flags, it changes them.
See Safe search.
Parental control
adult, gambling, social, video, games, piracy and drugs. parental add
subscribes to the category’s first list, or to all of them with --all. Each one is an ordinary
blocklist afterwards (dnz filter list …). See Parental control.
Response policy zones
RPZ feeds, server-wide only (superadmin). Zones are checked in order; the first match wins.rpz set takes --enabled on|off, --policy, --refresh, --primary and --url. See
Response policy zones.
Testing a name
dnz filter check tells you whether a name would be blocked, and why:
What blocked names answer
null_ip answers 0.0.0.0 / ::; nxdomain answers that the name doesn’t exist.
